South Korean game company NCSoft has officially launched its latest cross-platform MMORPG "Lineage W" globally on Android, iOS, and PC. It is now available in 12 countries and regions, including South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. Afterward, Lineage W will expand its service regions to North America, South America, and Europe.
Lineage W is a sequel to the PC MMORPG Lineage 1, an MMORPG released in 1998 with 2D isometric-overhead graphics. It is relatively similar to a remastered version of the original game, complete with full 3D visuals (developed using Unreal Engine 4) and a quarter-view camera.
The dark fantasy MMORPG is set in 150 years after the story of Lineage. The game emphasizes Lineage's core values: battle, Blood Pledge, sacrifice, and honor.
Lineage W features a cell/grid system for combat, a battle system that builds on the originality of the Lineage IP with enhanced strike feedback, immersive storylines, and improved content for pledges and alliances. Players can also select a gender for each class: Monarch, Knight, Elf, and Magician.
Additionally, Lineage W highlights a "global battle community." International players can work together and compete on a single battleground (server). Moreover, it offers "AI translation," which enables real-time communication between players who speak different languages, and a "Voice-to-text" feature that converts speech to text.
The game's initial content will bring diverse content, including magic dolls, a dice game, teleport treasure hunts, tax wagon convoy missions, and collection events.
Lineage W supports a player-to-player trading system. In-game, players can trade the items they want or sell to and buy from other players in real-time. NCSoft has considerably reduced private trading fees. Further, the trade market will be available.
The Korean game publisher also mentioned on its 2nd showcase event that the game launch doesn't introduce monthly subscription products like Einhasad's Blessing and other XP-related systems. Emblem, Guardian Starts, and Spirit Inscriptions systems are also not included.
The release date of Lineage W is November 4, 2021. It is available on Android (via Google Play), iOS (via App Store), PC (via Purple). Cross-play on consoles (PS5 and Nintendo Switch) is also under preparation.
