Game developer Riot Games has announced that the 2022 League of Legends World Championship (Lol Worlds) finals will take place in San Francisco, California, slated for fall 2022.
The qualifying rounds of the game's biggest tournament will be held across North American cities, namely Mexico City, New York, and Toronto.
Here are the venues for LoL Worlds 2022:
- Play-Ins: LoL Esports' LLA Competition Arena in Mexico City, Mexico
- Groups and Quarterfinals: Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City
- Semifinals: Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada
- Grand Finals: Chase Center in San Francisco, California
This upcoming competition will mark the championship's 12th iteration as well as its return to North America for the first time since 2016.
Meanwhile, the event in Mexico City will mark the first time the tournament has been held in Latin America.
Worlds 2021 concluded earlier this month in Reykjavik, Iceland, with no live audience. It was initially planned for Shenzhen, China, but Riot Games has decided to move the venue to Iceland due to the pandemic.
Moreover, Chinese underdogs Edward Gaming defeated defending champions DWG KIA from South Korea in the grand finals of LoL Worlds 2021.
