Telecommunications Connectivity Inc. (TCI) said that they support the government in ensuring the success of Mobile Number Portability (MNP).
According to TCI, a joint venture of Globe, Smart, and DITO, they assure their regulator, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), that they are actively working on addressing the MNP "roadblocks."
TCI anticipated some issues due to differences in the underlying network architecture and design of the telcos' network infrastructure.
MNP's birth pains were caused by a combination of non-technical and technical difficulties. TCI has dealt with and resolved a number of technical challenges in the first two weeks following the MNP's launch on September 30, 2021, including port out rejections, unique subscriber code (USC) generation, allowing portability of Virtual Number Operators (VNOs), and airtime loading.
Moreover, new issues that have arisen since the launch are nearing resolution. The respective project teams from Globe, Smart, and DITO collaborated to resolve MNP process issues.
Additionally, a service level agreement (SLA) is being developed to streamline the response time for each critical leg of the MNP process, which will improve the customer experience and may alleviate MNP hesitancy.
Regarding market acceptance, TCI is committed to the primary objective of allowing mobile customers to choose their providers. Because the MNP supports this objective, they are leaving it up to customers to decide whether or not to switch providers.
TCI will continue to work with telcos and regulatory agencies to ensure that the MNP law's true intent is fully implemented and supported.
