Globe has said that they are ramping up the rollout of its 5G-enabled in-building solutions (IBS) to ensure high-quality indoor coverage in key tourism destinations such as airports, shopping malls, and stadiums.
This comes amid a relaxation of community quarantine measures in light of the continued decline in COVID-19 cases.
According to Globe, IBS is used to extend and distribute cellular signals throughout a structure or building.
Globe successfully launched 5G IBS at NAIA Terminals 1, 3, and 4, as well as the Riverbank Mall, Newport Mall, SM Mall of Asia Annex, office-retail W City Center, New Clark City Athletic Stadium, and Philippine Arena.
Globe is expanding its services in tourist-related facilities to provide a better customer experience as international and domestic destinations reopen gradually. In addition, tourism is expected to rebound as nationwide lockdown measures are eased.
Moreover, the telco has also activated 5G IBS at the House of Representatives complex, the Legislative Library Building, the Speaker Ramon V. Mitra Building, Marikina City Hall, MAAX, The Globe Tower, and 917Ventures office.
Globe completed 73 IBS between January and September of this year to provide high-quality indoor coverage.
Apart from accelerating the nationwide rollout of 4G LTE, Globe is also expanding its 5G coverage. 5G is the most advanced mobile technology available today, delivering ultra-low latency, increased bandwidth, and increased network reliability.
