Globe completes 4G site upgrades, expands 5G coverage in VizMin areas
Globe Telecom has fully upgraded its 3G legacy network in Bacolod City, Boracay, Iloilo City, and Cagayan de Oro to 4G LTE as of September 2021.
Additionally, the telco installed 5G towers in these key areas, including popular tourist destinations in Malay, Aklan.
In Cagayan de Oro, 180 sites have been upgraded, providing 5G coverage in 30 strategic locations throughout the city.
Globe has expanded 84 cell sites and built 13 5G towers in Bacolod City, while it upgraded 111 sites and enabled 5G coverage in 11 locations in Iloilo City.
The telco has modernized its 32 cell sites in Boracay, including Balabag, Manoc-Manoc, and Yapak. The three barangays now have 5G coverage, with Manoc-Manoc boasting two 5G towers.
Globe SVP for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group, Joel Agustin, shared that with 4G LTE network, their customers in Bacolod City, Boracay, Cagayan de Oro, and Iloilo City now have access to high-speed internet, clearer calls, and a stable mobile network.
He also added that they made 5G available in these four locations in order for them to maximize the potential and opportunities of the technology.
Globe customers nationwide are encouraged to verify that their SIM cards are 4G-capable to enjoy the benefits of 4G fully.
