Onic PH tops Group B, joins Blacklist in M3 upper bracket
Onic PH kicked have secured an upper bracket slot in the M3 World Championship Playoffs after a 2-1 run in the group stage on December 7 at the Suntec Singapore Convention Centre. The MPL PH S8 runners-up will join fellow Filipino team Blacklist International in the upper bracket playoffs.
After falling to Indonesia's Onic Esports in the tournament opener, Onic Philippines ricocheted with victories over Malaysia's Todak and Brazil's Vivo Keyd to claim the top spot in Group B with a 2-1 record.
An aggressive start was delivered by Onic PH in their opening match. They held map control and dominated clashes for most of the game. However, Onic PH failed to overcome Onic ID in the Lord fight and eventually lost to the Indonesian squad at the 20-minute mark.
Onic PH made a resurgence in the next match against Todak, where they made adjustments to their draft to insert a marksman in the lineup. It was a seesaw fight between the two teams, but ultimately, Onic PH emerged victorious with 12 kills against 10 of Todak MY at the 16-minute mark, improving their score to 1-1.
The Filipino squad dominated their last match against Vivo Keyd with a landslide 10-1 kill lead in under 12 minutes. Besides kills, Onic PH focused on objectives finishing the game with a 9-1 turrets destroyed difference and a 9k gold advantage.
Topping Group B earned Onic PH a spot in the upper bracket of the M3 World Championship's double-elimination Playoffs on December 11. Todak MY also advanced to the upper bracket with a 2-1 record.
