MPL PH S8 finals: Blacklist International beat Onic, 4-1
Blacklist International defended its MPL crown after crushing Onic PH, 4-1, in Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines Season 8 Grand Finals on October 24, 2021.
The Tier One Entertainment-led Blacklist International dominated Game 1, defeating Onic PH in the 23-minute mark of the match. The all-out performance of Blacklist in the first game resulted in a kills score of 18-8 and a 3k gold advantage.
Game 2 saw both teams equally showing their best play. However, Onic Philippines took the second game, thanks to Markyyyyy's Natan leading the team fight in the 20-minute mark, scoring a triple kill. Onic finished the game in the 21-minute mark, making the series tied 1-1.
The Blacklist squad halted Onic's surge in Game 3. OhMyV33nus's Mathilda significantly contributed in the third game to give Blacklist squad the upper hand and regain the lead, 2-1.
Blacklist International hammered Onic in a quick Game 4, continuing their momentum. They led 17-0 in kills and won the game in just under 12 minutes to take a 3-1 lead in the series.
Wise's Bane shined in Game 5, where he tallied 10 kills and 5 assists against 0 deaths. Blacklist ended the game in the 10-minute mark, securing a 4-1 victory in the best-of-seven (Bo7) grand finals of MPL PH S8.
With their victory, Blacklist International became two-time champions of MPL PH. Moreover, Hadji was named finals MVP for his versatility and playmaking ability, which fueled his squad's championship run.
Blacklist International and Onic are expected to represent the Philippines in the Mobile Legends M3 World Championship, which features USD 800K prize pool, in December 2021.
