Globe's 9 months 2021 cell site builds up 82% vs 2020
Globe Telecom has increased its cell site builds by 82 percent in the first nine months of 2021, compared to the same period last year.
This resulted in 1,080 new cell sites installed at the end of September, up from 593 in January to September 2020.
Globe reported that 340 new cell towers had been built in Metro Manila and 230 in North Luzon. In South Visayas and Mindanao, at least a hundred or more new cell towers were also installed.
From January to September of this year, Globe also completed 73 in-building solutions or IBS. Globe claims that an in-building solution is critical to providing customers with high-quality indoor coverage. With IBS, subscribers will have better mobile signals indoors.
"The installation of new cell towers will greatly decongest traffic in our existing towers," said Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group.
"By building more cell sites, while modernizing the existing ones to 4G LTE, we will ensure to meet the demand for better and accessible connectivity for our customers in more parts of the country," added Agustin.

Agustin also shared that they are highly optimistic about maintaining the momentum, as more cell towers simply translate into a better call, text, and data browsing experience for their customers.
